Field Representatives

Terry Price

Terry grew up in the Shenandoah Valley in Waynesboro, VA. Terry works with Dairy Cattle and has over 26 years experience in the Dairy Nutrition field. Terry acquired his knowledge from hands-on experience working on farms and as a previous employee of Valley Feed Co. where he held the positions of Truck Driver, Mill Manager, and VP of Sales. Terry's personal commitment to his customers's needs is best demonstrated by his strong and loyal customer base in the northern Augusta/southern Rockingham County areas.

Don Fretts

Don graduated with a B.S. from the University of Maryland and with a Masters of Science from Penn State University. Don has over 40 years experience in the field of agriculture. He recently retired as County Extension Director from Penn State Cooperative Extension. His responsibilities included research, development, and presentation of educational programming in the disciplines of agronomy, agri-business cooperative development, farm management, and 4-H dairy and livestock clubs. Don came to Augusta Co-Op in 2009. He makes use of his background in education by organizing various customer sales and training seminars for Augusta Co-Op employees. Don's coverage area includes western Augusta County and Highland County.

Marc Clayton

Marc grew up in southwest Iowa. He attended Iowa State University and graduated with a degree in Animal Science with an emphasis in Animal Reproduction. Though not raised on a farm, he quickly found himself working on local farms with 5,000-10,000 crop acres, 200-500 cow-calf pairs, and a commercial hog farm. Marc was also very active in his local 4-H club, earning trips to both 4-H Congress and National 4-H Conference as well as both State of Iowa and National 4-H Record Book Awards. Marc has also been involved in the professional horse business including over 7 years in Texas managing a Quarter Horse Breeding Operation. Marc first came to your co-op as the Fairfield store manager in 2005. In 2008, Marc returned to the horse industry, but he realized his place was here at Augusta Co-Op, and he came back on board in 2009 as a field representative. Marc continues to broaden his knowledge base, expanding into the areas of seed, agronomy, and crop protectants. Marc's coverage area includes Augusta County (Staunton) and western Rockingham County (Churchville, Dayton, Harrisonburg, Singer's Glen).

Daniel May

Daniel is a native of Mill Run, Pennsylvania where he was raised on a beef cattle and sheep farm. Daniel also worked on other farms during school and learned how to milk cows. After graduating from school, Daniel took a full-time position managing a 250 head Angus herd in Pennsylvania. He has over eight years experience in animal health and reproduction, artificial insemination, and embryo transfer. He has also served as a 4-H leader and judging team coach. He also owns and operates May Valley Club Lambs, raising and showing sale club lambs. He also judges market lamb and goat shows. Daniel's coverage area includes northern Augusta County (Weyers Cave, Grottoes, Crimora, and Waynesboro) as well as Rockingham County (Elkton, McGaheysville, and New Market).

Jake Leonard

Jake grew up on an Angus farm in the Middlebrook area of Augusta County, VA. He established his agriculture knowledge early, by helping to lead his high school team to a State FFA livestock judging championship as well as exhibiting the Grand Champion steer and Reserve Champion hog at the local market animal show. He studied environmental science and agriculture at Ferrum College where he also played baseball. After two short years at the Headwaters Soil and Water Conservation District Office, he joined the Co-Op as a Field Representative. Though his base area of expertise centers on beef cattle, he has quickly broadened his knowledge to include crops and other species. Jake covers the southern Augusta County and Rockbridge County areas.

Lynnley Thornton Coleman

Lynnley grew up in Albemarle County, VA on a five generation farm raising beef cattle. She has worked in the Agriculture industry for 20 years. For 10 years, she spent her summers working with her uncle on his dairy farm. She also has an extensive equine background as she began riding horses at the age of six and landed her first "real" job at a hunter/jumper barn at age 12. When not out in the field, she helps her husband with his family Angus farm where they also raise sheep, goats and poultry. Lynnley also covers the vineyard market and is continually gaining knowledge about viticulture. She is a volunteer leader for Southern Albemarle 4-H. Lynnley covers southern Albemarle and Buckingham counties.

Mercer Garnett

Mercer grew up in Albemarle County, VA on a family beef and dairy farm. He spent his summers and most other free time helping with farming activities. Mercer has a degree from Virginia Tech in Agricultural Economics with an emphasis in small business management. Upon graduation, he completed Southern States's management training program and worked in several retail locations affiliated with the company. Before coming to Augusta Co-Op, he also managed a beef farm in Orange County, VA. Mercer's coverage area includes northern Albemarle, Orange, and Greene Counties.

John Hicks

John was raised on a dairy farm in Lynchburg, VA. He obtained his Associate in Business Management Degree from Central Virginia Community College and has served in the agriculture industry for over 27 years. He has continued his education in the areas of Nutrient Management Planning from the State of Virginia, Dairy nutrition from Penn State (Cargill), agronomy from Virginia Tech and University of Maryland, and sports turf from Virginia Tech. He works out of the Bedford location assisting with agronomy operations as well as sports turf management of local high school ballfields. He also provides nutritional assistance to dairy farms in the Bedford/Franklin County area.

Alisa Berry

Alisa was raised on a horse farm in Augusta County, VA. She graduated from Sweet Briar College with a degree in Economics with a concentration in Business. Alisa has over 7 years experience in the business world of management, health and recreation/performance horses. She has personal experience as both a rider and a manager of horse barns where she made decisions on ring footing, field layout and fertilizing. As a competitive rider, Alisa knows what it takes to prepare horses for top competition in regards to farrier services, nutrition, saddle fit, vaccinations, deworming and grooming. When not in the field, she continues to show and train horses with her husband as they own a training and boarding facility.
